October 31, 2018 – Halloween

Dear Parents,

Parade schedule, route and classroom parties

With Halloween just around the corner we wanted to get all of the important information out to you. On Wednesday, October 31, 2018  the annual parade will begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. Weather permitting, students will be parading around the block from school to Braintree, then Milton, then Country Club to the path to come back to school. If it does rain, the parades will be in the building going through the gym for parents to view. The classroom parties will run from 1:15-2:15. As a reminder, there will be no food distributed at parties.

In an effort to help families plan for the Halloween fun, please read through the information outlined below. Your cooperation is appreciated to ensure a safe day, as your children’s well-being is our utmost concern.

In choosing an appropriate costume for your child, please adhere to the following guidelines:

No costumes depicting violence (no fake blood, please)

No weapons or “look-alikes” of any kind (toy guns, plastic swords, etc.)

Keep make-up to a minimum (there is only a short time given to students to get into costumes, so save the best for trick-or-treating)

No one may wear make-up or costumes to school in the morning

Be certain that your child can see through his/her mask

Lunch permission for costume changes at home

Students will have plenty of time to put on their costumes and staff will be able to assistIf you would still like to pick up your child during lunch so they can dress in their costume at home you must sign and return the permission slip below. Children will not be released unless they have a signed permission slip at school by Thursday, October 26. All students must be picked-up and dropped- off by an adult, including walkers. No student will be allowed to walk home without an adult.

Students going home to change into costumes in grades 1/2 & 3/4 will be dismissed at 11:15 and will need to return to school by 11:55. Students going home in grades K & 5/6 will be dismissed at 12:00 and will need to return to school by 12:40. Students will be dismissed through the front doors. Parents must park their cars, and come to the front doors. Students will be released when they are greeted by their parent.

When dropping students off, the parking lot will be set-up similarly to AM drop-off. You may drop-off by the crosswalk area, and an adult will help cross them. You do not need to sign them back in. Please do not pull up in the bus lane.
